The Bachelorette – Final Four!

Looking back on my first (and only) post about The Bachelorette this season, I saw that my Top Two picks (based solely on the first episode) are STILL my Top Two picks….and dare I say JoJo’s too!?!  Man – I’m good at predicting this. I should’ve gambled from the get go…I could’ve won me some money!

Even though I haven’t blogged about The Bachelorette, I have been watching closely every week and it’s been obvious since Day One that JoJo’s chemistry with Jordan and Luke far outweighs her connections with anyone else.

So much has happened in the eight weeks leading into tonight’s hometown dates – lots of traveling, lots of tears, lots of DRAMA – I mean Chad…really?!  Talk about a roller coaster of a season. But it’s all lead us to tonight…the final four guys take JoJo home to meet their families!  This is always a very telling episode.  Family means everything to so many people and if your family isn’t in it, then that could be a deal breaker.  I think that’s probably one of the reasons JoJo isn’t with Ben right now. Because of how her brothers treated him. But anyway – back to these guys!  As I mentioned, my favorite two guys Jordan and Luke are still in it to win it. Last week was such a great week for both of them, they moved leaps and bounds with JoJo.  Jordan told her that he loves her and even though Luke hasn’t, he doesn’t need to.  It’s obvious he does and she does too.  She keeps saying that she now understands how Ben felt last season when he told two people he loved them. It’s because she does too. I’m honestly torn on which guy it will be, but JoJo will 100% choose either Luke or Jordan.

Jordan has had an up and down reputation on the show, but honestly I never bought into it. So what, his brother is in the NFL, that doesn’t mean he’s not worthy of love, does it? Last week when he opened up to JoJo about his relationship with his brother Aaron, I think that proved it even more. He’s not here because of his brother.  He doesn’t even talk to his brother.  He is here for JoJo. I think some of the guys have maybe been jealous of him since the beginning. He’s gorgeous and the two of them have an obvious connection – I’d be jealous too if I were them. Jordan and JoJo have a great chance and I’d be super happy if she chose him.

Luke is a full fledged Texas boy with a heart of gold. He has never faltered once with JoJo. They have a very strong, passionate relationship. Luke is a man and has made it clear that he wants to be with JoJo. I think taking her home to Texas just might help solidify things for them. She’s from Texas, he’s from Texas, they’re both gorgeous – what’s not to love about these two?

Ok – to be fair – there are two other guys besides these Jordan and Luke. And they’re great. I like them just fine. In fact if I could’ve hand picked a final four for JoJo it probably would be these guys. Chase is great. Robbie is great. Everybody is great. But going into tonight I just don’t see it being one of those two. So I’ll just leave it at that. We will see what happens!  See you back here in a couple days and we can talk all about it!

Until then – love one another!!

Meet Bachelorette JoJo!

Because I watched The Bachelor last season with Ben Higgins, I am stoked to see JoJo back and running the show!  I love her spunk and her confidence!  She’s physically beautiful on the outside, but also seems like such a sweet, genuine and real girl on the inside. JoJo is a Real Estate Developer in Dallas, Texas – which I’m sure will change after her stint as The Bachelorette. Pretty sure she’ll start a career in fashion or on TV, but who am I to say? Either way, I am excited to see how the season rolls out for her!

Monday was the premiere and already you can pretty much hand pick the good apples from the bad apples. JoJo started off strong I think – she had 26 men at the beginning and by the end of the night she kept 20 moving forward.  I like her choices so far, but of course, keep in mind that it’s super early and things can change at the drop of a hat!  That said I’ve been watching for a long time and have gotten pretty good at picking the favorites. Here are my picks for JoJo so far!!

JORDAN RODGERS

The Early Pick: Right off the bat, they hit it off. Not only is he gorgeous and sweet, he also happens to be a former Pro Football Player and brothers with Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. JoJo says she instantly felt comfortable and connected to him, so much so that they kissed on the first night!  It’s clear that this guy is gonna be around for awhile, if not until the end!  JoJo + Jordan…isn’t that cute??

LUKE PELL

The Fellow Texan: When JoJo met Luke, she turned to the camera and said…he’s HOT. Luke is a nice guy from Texas, a war veteran and a musician. He seems to have a kind heart and JoJo really took to him. From some angles his eyes look crooked, but hey looks aren’t everything!  I think JoJo likes that he’s a hometown boy and she’ll keep him around for awhile!

WELLS ADAMS

The Music Man: Wells is a DJ from Nashville, Tennessee and Nashville is my new favorite city, so therefore I like him!  Not to mention he pulled out all the stops and had All 4 One come out and serenade JoJo with “I Swear!” Too cute. She seemed to enjoy his company so I’m interested to see if this could go anywhere!

DEREK PETH

The Nice Guy: First off, does Derek look like Jim from The Office or what?! You can’t see it in this picture, but if you saw the episode chances are you thought it too. Derek is a Banker in Fort Lauderdale. He likes to play the guitar and aside from that we don’t know much else. But he seemed to have a nice time with JoJo and I’m curious if they have a shot. Good luck, Derek!

CHRISTIAN BISHOP

The Go-Getter: Christian sure is pretty!  He lives in LA – has a successful job in Telecommunications and admitted that he works hard and never stops.  He’s up by 4:30am and at the gym. Christian would definitely hate living with me – but maybe JoJo is the gal for him. Who knows?  I think he’s cute and may stick around for a bit!

JAMES TAYLOR

The Sweetheart: We have another Musician and another Texan on our hands.  With a name like James Taylor, its no wonder he actually came out of the limo and sang to JoJo.  He was so cute and adorable – definitely the kind of guy that you just look at, tilt your head and say…awwww. Is he the guy for JoJo, probably not, but I could be wrong.  He’s sweet and warm and that’s always a win in my book.

NICK BENVENUTTI

The Funny Guy: Yes, that’s Nick B and yes he showed up dressed as Santa Claus!  We all thought it was weird at first, but once they sat down and she asked to see his face, it was actually really cute! He was funny and kind of adorable. I like Saint Nick and I think JoJo might too…we shall see!

A few more first impressions…Vinny is kinda creepy. Chad is the biggest douche lord in the world. Evan seems nice but needs a haircut. And Alex could be a contender…if he wasn’t so damn short!  Literally…he’s not even 5’5″…they sat down on the couch and his feet didn’t touch the ground. Ali is cute, plays the piano, but he has a weird smile and a strange face. I wouldn’t be able to see past that. Sorry…but its true.

The rest of the guys don’t seem important at this time and I can’t remember anymore names, but it seems like she has a good bunch!!  Already looking forward to next week!

Stay Tuned.

The Bachelor/Bachelorette – Are you a Believer?

Our newest Bachelorette, JoJo Fletcher (real name Joelle), began her journey last night in the 12th season of The Bachelorette.  I will recap my thoughts on tomorrow’s post, but for now I want to talk about past Bachelors and Bachelorettes. Who is really still together?

Contrary to popular belief, this actually is a show about finding love, and although it hasn’t worked for…well…75% of past contestants, it has for others.  Probably more couples than you’d think are still together – living life, some married, some with kids!

So whether you think The Bachelor concept is scam (like my boyfriend) or you’re a true fan of the show (like me), you can’t deny, not only is it fun to watch – but it can really work if you’re open to it and allow yourself to let go and find that right person!! Some things are meant to be, right.  And maybe these people are meant to go on a TV show to find their true love and live happily ever after!!  Alright…when you put it like that it does sound a little wacky, but check out the couples below…they just might make you a believer!!

xo, A

TRISTA AND RYAN

Trista Rehn was the first Bachelorette in January of 2003. She was a Physical Therapist who fell in love with Ryan Sutter, a Fireman. They became engaged at the end of the show in February 2003 and got married in December of that same year on an ABC televised special. They have been married for almost 13 years and have two children, Max and Blakesley. They live in Eagle County, Colorado.

JASON AND MOLLY

Jason Mesnick was The Bachelor in January of 2009. He ended his stint in a somewhat controversial way. Jason chose Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney was the runner-up. He had such a hard time saying goodbye to Molly, but went on to propose to Melissa. At the After the Final Rose special, Jason broke up with Melissa. He sat down with Molly that night and on national TV told her he made a mistake and that she was the one – not Melissa. They dated for one year and were married in February of 2010. It was a super romantic TV special where it literally started pouring rain on them halfway through the ceremony. But they just kept going and that made it all the more memorable for everyone watching! Jason and Molly have been married for over six years and they have one daughter together, Riley. Jason has a son Ty, from a previous relationship.  They live in Kirkland, Washington.

ASHLEY AND JP

Ashley Hebert was our 7th Bachelorette in May of 2011.  She chose JP Rosenbaum at the end of her season and they became engaged in August 2011.  It was pretty instant between these two and I’m so happy they are still together!  They were engaged over a year and got married in December of 2012 in a televised special. Ashley is a Pediatric Dentist and JP works in Construction. They have been married for almost 4 years and have a son named Fordham. They are expecting a daughter next year.  They live in Miami, Florida.

SEAN AND CATHERINE

Sean Lowe was The Bachelor  for Season 17 and he was the All-American nice guy.  Blonde hair, blue-eyed, dreamy and looking for love!  Sean announced early on in the show that he was a virgin and saving himself for marriage. He had a kind heart right from the get go and took an unexpected liking to Catherine Giudici. She was funny, full of charisma and very genuine and real. She also came from a traditional Filipino family and she and Sean instantly became friends on the show. Then one day…it became more. Most people, myself included, thought Sean would pick Lindsey in the end. But he chose Catherine and we’re so glad he did!!  They really are adorable together and you can tell they are so in love! They were engaged at the end of the show in March of 2013 and got married in January 2014 in an ABC special. Sean and Catherine announced in December 2015 that they are expecting their first child. They’re keeping the gender a secret, but I think it’s a girl!!   They live in Dallas, Texas.

DESIREE AND CHRIS

Desiree Hartsock became The Bachelorette in May of 2013. She is a Bridal Gown Designer who fell in love with Chris Siegfried. They got engaged at the end of the show in August of 2013 and were engaged for a year and a half. They got married in January 2015 and were the first Bachelor couple so far who chose not to get married on TV. They’ve been married for a year and half and announced last month that they are expecting their first child.  Desiree and Chris live in Seattle, Washington.

LACY AND MARCUS

Bachelor in Paradise is a spin-off of the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. There have been two seasons so far. The show brings together past Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants to spend the summer getting to know each other on a secluded tropical island. The idea is that even though these people didn’t find love on their season of the show, maybe they’ll find it after six weeks in Paradise. Lacy and Marcus began dating on the show in August 2014 and got engaged after just over a month on the show’s season finale. They were engaged for over a year and got hitched in June of 2015. They are still happily married and Marcus just enlisted in the US Naval Academy.

KAITLYN AND SHAWN

Kaitlyn Bristowe met Shawn Booth a little over a year ago when she became the 11th Bachelorette. She and Shawn had an instant connection and we could all see it!  Although Kaitlyn caused quite the stir during her season when she openly admitted to sleeping with another contestant, her runner-up Nick. But in the end, it was still Shawn. They got engaged at the end of the show in May 2015 and are still together and planning to marry.  They live together in Nashville, Tennessee.

JADE AND TANNER

Another Bachelor in Paradise couple – Jade Roper was from Chris Seoul’s season of The Bachelor and Tanner Tolbert was from Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season. They met in Paradise and continued dating throughout their whole stay in Mexico.  They got engaged on the show’s season finale in September 2015 and married just four months later in January 2016.  The wedding aired on ABC on Valentine’s Day of this year. Jade and Tanner are still married and living in Kansas City, Missouri.

BEN AND LAUREN

Ben Higgins just ended his stint as The Bachelor back in January 2016. Lauren Bushnell was the front runner all season long and the two became engaged on the season finale of the show and have been together for a little over 6 months. Ben lives in Denver, Colorado and Lauren lives in Portland, Oregon – but according to Instagram they are together every week!  They are planning to marry sometime this year in an ABC special.

MET GALA 2016 | Best Dressed

Last night was the party of the year in New York City. The opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s annual exhibition. The theme of the night was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” and the celebs went in every direction they possibly could.  Young, modern and funky looks with edge and hardware stood next to sleek, structured metallics and vibrant, fun colors. Hair was pulled back tight or let loose in messy waves and the dark, almost blue-black lipstick was everywhere! These ladies took the theme and ran with it, making this one of the most interesting and vibrant Met Gala red carpets I’ve seen in a long time!

Here are my favorite looks from last night! Enjoy and share your thoughts!

Movie of the Week: Everybody Wants Some

Everybody Wants Some

Rated R  |  1 hour, 56 Mins

Directed by:  Richard Linklater

Written by:  Richard Linklater

Starring:  Blake Jenner, Tyler Hoechlin, Glen Powell, Ryan Guzman, Zoey Deutch

I will start by saying…I love Richard Linklater.  I think he is an amazingly talented Writer and Director. From the Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight trilogy, to Boyhood, to the 1970’s cult classic Dazed and Confused – which we were told would be the predecessor to Everybody Want Some in all of its 80’s glory!

Needless to say, I had high hopes!  I was looking forward to this film for a long time! Largely because of Linklater and the fact that he’d just come off such a high with Boyhood, one of my favorite films of 2014, and also because of the great ensemble cast. I love Blake Jenner from Glee and I used to work in PR with two of the other actors in this film, Ryan Guzman and Zoey Deutch, so of course I was itching to see it!

Not to mention…I mean it’s an R Rated college flick set in the 80’s…that pretty much guarantees me a good time!  Right?!

Well…not so much.

Pros:  The MUSIC!

Cons:  Everything else.

Ok, I guess that’s a little harsh.  I also really dug the awesome 80’s wardrobe and the hair and makeup were on point!

Alright, alright.  The acting was descent too – for some, but not for all.

If I’m being honest, I just really did not like this film. At all.  I wanted to like it so much. But I didn’t.  The story was blah, therefore the acting was only ok.  I did not care about a single character, and there were a lot of freaking characters!!  It was just weird.  It felt forced and not at all authentic. To be honest, I was almost bored watching it.

Granted, this is my opinion.  I personally did not have the quintessential “college experience”so it’s definitely harder for me to relate.  But even still, after hearing it be labeled a sort of sequel to Dazed and Confused, my standards were high.  I expected to be entertained!  And I wasn’t.

That’s really all. Take it for what it is. Maybe I’m wrong.  My boyfriend enjoyed it. Most critics have loved it.  But it wasn’t my bag.

If you’re gonna see it, maybe get a little drunk or high first. That might help. Am I allowed to say that?  Of course I can…it’s my blog.

Overall:  It had a good premise, but it fell flat. The cast worked well with what they were given, but because the story wasn’t good, the characters weren’t either. The 80’s aspect of it was great – nostalgia at its best with super fun tunes and amazing clothes!  But other than that…it was sub-par at best. I would probably take back my two hours if I could.

My Grade: D+

Rotten Tomatoes: 91%  (really??)

Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself.
